Biography

Kiev, Ukraine, 1987

Based since 2023 in Palma de Mallorca, Spain

Anastasia Belous is a contemporary artist whose practice reconsiders the legacy of classical realism through a distinctly contemporary lens.

Rooted in technical discipline, her work draws upon old master painting methods and historical material processes while engaging with the psychological and cultural tensions of the present moment.

Belous works primarily through portraiture and figuration, and approaches the human image as a philosophical and symbolic construct rather than mere likeness.

Her paintings examine the enduring structures of human behavior — vulnerability, ambition, vanity, resilience, and desire — revealing how these archetypal traits persist across historical eras while acquiring new meaning within contemporary society.

Born in Kyiv and academically trained in both fine art and art history, Anastasia Belous later completed an MA in History of Art at University College London.

Her body of work spans oil painting, engraving, printmaking, and large-scale murals. Not limited to a medium, Anastasia continues to explore new ways of expression.
